 Bilingual Differential For Classified Employees

An employee may qualify for a salary differential if they are regularly required to:  Speak in a non-English language or read and write in a non-English language or use sign language at a basic level.   For an employee to receive the differential, his or her site administrator or supervisor must certify that the employee is frequently called upon to use a second language in his or her position and the employee must pass the bilingual assessment that is administered by the Personnel Commission. 

HOW TO REQUEST A TEST

STEP ONE

Administrator or Supervisor completes the request to take the Bilingual Assessment Form and submits it to the Personnel Commission.

STEP TWO

Take and pass the bilingual test—written and oral tests are offered

STEP THREE

Site administrator or supervisor submits request for Bilingual Differential Form to the Personnel Commission

STEP ONE
