JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
A Senior Classified Training Representative plans, develops, coordinates, and conducts staff development programs designed to improve job skills, group dynamics, and career development of classified employees, including one-on-one training to develop and/or improve job related skills of classified employees.
Typical duties include:
- Planning, developing, and implementing training sessions and staff development programs by conducting needs analyses, developing curriculum, selecting appropriate means of presentation, and conducting staff development sessions.
- Providing one-on-one, on-site, and web-based training to school office staff.
- Coordinating staff development programs by selecting qualified speakers and instructors; arranging for training facilities and visual aides; and preparing and distributing announcements and resource guides.
- Planning, developing, writing, revising and maintaining program outlines, bulletins, memorandums, website, and handbooks and manuals for training purposes.
- Meeting with District employees and administrative personnel to discuss needs related to staff development training and to explain and develop relevant training and developmental workshops and programs.
- Advising employees and supervisory personnel on individual problems and explaining applicable regulations and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
PROMOTIONAL STATUS IS REQUIRED
You must be a current or retired employee of LAUSD with 130 paid days in regular status in the Classified Service or permanent status in the Certificated Service or have been laid-off within the past 39 months from a regular, permanent LAUSD position in which you passed probation.
Laid-off employees' eligibility as a promotional candidate expires at the end of their 39 month period; as such, laid-off employees applying for promotional career opportunities man not be eligible to complete the assessment process or may be removed from the employment eligibility list once their eligibility as a promotional candidate expires.
EDUCATION
Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency. Completion of School Office Procedures Certificate Program, a supervisory certificate program, and/or other Organizational Excellence classes is highly preferable. College-level courses in teaching/training methods, supervision, organizational development, and management are highly preferable.
EXPERIENCE
Six years of school site experience at or above the School Administrative Assistant level that included at least two years of experience in each of the following areas: The application of Los Angeles Unified School District student record keeping, personnel, or financial procedures; the input and retrieval of data using an office computer; school office experience (preferably at the elementary and secondary levels); and supervision. Three years of payroll experience is also required. The required experience may have been gained concurrently. Experience as a Classified Training Representative or formal training experience is highly preferable. Successful completion of a “Train the Trainer” program must be completed by the end of the probationary period.
SPECIAL
A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the use of a motor vehicle, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the position of Senior Classified Training Representative is a knowledgeable and skilled professional with expertise in staff training and development. They possess a strong understanding of student record-keeping, personnel assignment, payroll reporting, and budget maintenance systems and procedures at school sites.
A successful candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of School Administrative Assistants (SAA), Senior Office Technicians (SOT), Office Technicians (OT), and other related classifications within schools and Regions. They are adept at developing and utilizing training manuals and aids effectively, as well as planning, preparing, and evaluating training courses.
This individual excels in analyzing training needs and designing appropriate training programs. They are capable of conducting engaging and effective training sessions for employees in both live and web-based formats. Additionally, they have the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply complex technical materials, rules, procedures, policies, and regulations.
Strong communication skills are essential, as the ideal candidate can clearly and concisely present technical concepts and procedures in both oral and written formats. They are detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to enhancing the professional development of classified employees through high-quality training programs.
EMPLOYMENT SELECTION PROCESS
The employment selection process for Senior Classified Training Representative may consist of a technical project and a technical interview.
TESTING PROCESS

Your test scores from these assessments will be banked and used for final calculation.

You must receive PASSING SCORES on all TEST MODULES, for all the assessments, to remain in the selection process.

Candidates who receive a failing score on any test module will NOT be eligible to move forward in the selection process.

The technical project and interview may be worth 100% of a candidate's overall score and will be used to rank order candidates on the resulting eligibility list. The technical project will be evaluated in conjunction with your interview.
