JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The K-12 CTE Pathway Coordinator is part of an initiative that focuses on building, aligning, and strengthening college and career pathways that respond to regional workforce needs and support seamless student transitions from K-12 to postsecondary education and careers.
Typical duties for this position include:
- Research, develop, and implement program plans that strengthen K-14 career pathways and align with regional workforce needs.
- Support the development of college and career exploration initiatives embedded within K-12 CTE courses.
- Analyze and share labor market information (LMI) to identify programmatic gaps and inform pathway development.
- Facilitate collaboration among K-12 educators, community college faculty, and industry partners to improve alignment and student transitions.
- Coordinate work-based learning opportunities and outreach to engage students, families, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor program progress, prepare required reports (including NOVA), and ensure compliance with grant objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Experience: Three (3) full years of full-time work experience in a lead position within a K-12 school district, county office of education, community college, or university.
Additional Requirement: A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the use of a motor vehicle, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and innovative leader who is passionate about expanding equitable college and career opportunities for all students. They excel at building partnerships with K-12 and community college educators, workforce partners, and industry leaders to strengthen and align career pathways from middle school through postsecondary education and into the workforce.
This individual is skilled at researching, developing, and implementing program plans that embed college and career exploration within CTE courses and align with regional labor market needs. They use data effectively to identify existing pathways, analyze programmatic gaps, and recommend improvements that connect students to high-demand industries. With strong communication and facilitation skills, they thrive in dynamic, outward-facing roles that require both strategic planning and hands-on coordination.
EMPLOYMENT SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process for this position tentatively consists of a training & experience evaluation (T&E), a technical project, and a technical interview. Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months. The hiring list resulting from this assessment process may be used to fill open positions in related job classifications.
