The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at West Hollywood Elementary School towards academic success.

 

West Hollywood Elementary serves about 300 students in grades TK-5th grade, including a Resource Specialist program and many enrichment classes funded by the parent booster group. West Hollywood has a student body comprised of 5.6% African American, 9.2% Asian, 17.2% Hispanic, 59.9% White, and 8.1% Other Ethnicities. Approximately 7.12% are English Learners, 7.5% students with disabilities, and over 20% are identified as Gifted and Talented. Some of the students live in the neighborhood while others have enrolled through Open Enrollment. The school is located at 970 North Hammond Street, West Hollywood, CA 90069.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

will have knowledge of guidelines and expectations of Common Core State Standards, LAUSD School Leadership Framework, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, English Learner Master Plan, Special Education, and the District’s Strategic Plan; the ability to supervise and evaluate the instructional program and facilitate professional development at all levels of personnel; experience working collaboratively with all stakeholders and demonstrate professionalism and respectful interactions; willingness to delegate responsibilities as they relate to our school’s climate and committee structure; strong and effective planning and organizational skills; the ability to work independently; excellent time management skills; the ability to multi-task while meeting commitments and deadlines; the ability to interpret data to inform decisions and develop action plans that will result in continuous and sustainable school budgets; and the ability to support a successful positive school-wide behavior plan. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of computer science, digital citizenship, and the ISTE standards; believe in a multidisciplinary approach; and will support the arts, sciences, and technology. The ideal candidate must be willing to work collaboratively with the staff, parent groups (Friends of West Hollywood), and the community; and promote and model the school’s values.

SALARY:

SALARY: 40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days

 

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

    • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
    • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
    • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
    • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

     

    Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential                      • Multicultural coursework*
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university    • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
