SPECIALIST, PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES (0240)

(Vacancy at Special Education Service Center South)

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the Director, Psychological Services, the duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Evaluates the work of assigned school psychologists; provides guidance, assistance, and technical support; and monitors compliance with District policies and procedures and provisions per substantial compliance requirements
  • Coordinates and implements staff development activities for school psychologists
  • Reviews and monitors assessment and Designated Instructional Services (DIS) service activities using the Welligent IEP and Service Tracking Systems
  • Acts as liaison with other Special Education departments, District offices, and other public and private agencies
  • Conducts assessments for specialized referrals; reviews and evaluates new and revised test instruments and assessment models
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY:

38G, B Basis ($110,981 $138,149) 221 paid days

NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2026.

  • In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • At least five (5) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in assignments requiring a credential authorizing service as a school psychologist
    • A valid California Administrative Services Credential
    • One of the following valid California Pupil Personnel Credentials authorizing K-12 service:
      1. General Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing a service as a school psychologist
      2. School Psychologist Credential
      3. Services Credential with a specialization in pupil personnel services designating service as a school psychologist
    • An earned master's degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
    • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar Year following the issuance of such a Notice.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Operational knowledge of the Substantial Compliance requirements
  • Operational knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and relationship to tiered academic and behavior services
  • Working knowledge of the Welligent, MyData, and MiSiS student information platforms
  • Experience in a leadership position(s)
  • Experience in the implementation of psychological or special education services
  • Excellent skills in written communication and oral presentation
  • Evidence of successful inter-personal relationship skills
  • Ability to travel to sites throughout the District
