SPECIALIST, CAREER LADDER

Certificated Workforce Management is accepting applications for the position of Specialist, Career Ladder.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs and implements training for program participants and staff
- Implements strategies to recruit, select, and retain new general education and special education teachers and related services personnel; processes and supports members through the pre-employment process
- Monitors Career Ladder support services; maintains communication between Career Ladder office personnel and staff in the field
- Assists in scheduling interviews for eligible members at school sites
- Accesses support for newly hired Career Ladder certificated employees
- Refers eligible teachers and support service applicants to vacant positions at school sites, local districts, and central office
- Conducts informational presentations to small and large groups at local sites, schools, local districts, and other venues
- Serves as the District representative on teacher preparation program advisory councils and accreditation teams
- Fosters collaboration and partnership with college or university teacher preparation programs
- Facilitates recruitment activities throughout California and nationwide at colleges, universities, conferences, conventions, and agencies dedicated to assisting military veterans and families in seeking employment
- Advises teachers, administrators, and other District staff regarding articles of the District/UTLA Agreement, personnel policies and procedures, and requirements of consent decrees and various federal and state regulations
- Conducts formal presentations and articulates, establishes, and fosters collaborations and partnerships with colleges and universities
- Utilizes technology to collect data, analyze findings, and prepare reports to drive recruitment efforts
- Travels to other sites, locations, conferences, colleges, and universities
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
38G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($131,068 – $163,154) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2025.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Permanent certificated employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District
- At least five (5) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s)
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- A valid California Teaching Credential authorizing K-12 service, requiring a bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, that included student teaching
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*
- Full English Learner Authorization (BCLAD, CLAD, ELA1, Bilingual Authorization or equivalent)

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the Teaching and Learning Framework and District instructional programs
- Successful completion of EDST Observer Certification Training with a level of “preliminary certified” or better
- Understanding of current trends and processes in education, including teacher credentialing programs
- Experience in an out-of-classroom (e.g., coordinator, coach, etc.) or administrative position
- Experience at multiple sites or multiple grade levels
- Experience as a member of a school site selection committee
- Experience in designing and making formal and public presentations
- Experience assisting military veterans and families with seeking employment or military experience
- Ability to learn and utilize multiple technology platforms (i.e., Microsoft Office, SAP, Google Apps)
- Ability to plan, organize, multi-task, and prioritize assignments and tasks
- Ability to compose appropriate written communications for a variety of audiences
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, high volume work environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
