South Park Elementary is a Title I school operating on a traditional calendar, serving over 800 students from TK through 5th grade. The student body is Latino (84%), African American (11%) and other (5%). Approximately 31% of our students are English Learners, while another 12% are eligible for Special Education Services, receiving support aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Our school qualifies as a School-wide Title I institution, with 92% of our students identified as Economically Disadvantaged. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong instructional background, demonstrate leadership experience, and a commitment to increasing student achievement. They must be able to supervise instruction, lead during times of transition, and foster a nurturing, student-centered school culture. The candidate should possess exceptional oral and written communication skills; the ability to empower teacher leaders; and a collaborative, open-door leadership style that engages all stakeholders—including faculty, staff, students, and parents. This individual must be highly organized, flexible, and capable of effectively multitasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced educational environment. A deep knowledge of the California Common Core State Standards, the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, and the School Leadership Framework is essential. They should be skilled in analyzing data to inform instruction and in designing and implementing differentiated professional development to meet the diverse needs of staff and students. Additionally, the ideal candidate must have experience with school budgets and operations; demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and support the academic, social, emotional, psychological, and physical needs of all learners. Collaboration with the school’s instructional leadership team is essential to ensure high-quality outcomes for every student.
SALARY:
SALARY: 43G - E Basis ($133,626 - $166,705) – 234 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
- Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position
Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
