The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services, to lead the students, staff, and community at Robert Frost Middle School towards academic excellence.
Robert Frost Middle School (RFMS) is a California Distinguished School located in Granada Hills, serving approximately 1,500 students in grades 6 through 8. Our student population is richly diverse, with approximately 50% Hispanic/Latino, 33% White, 6% Asian, 3% Filipino, 3% African American, and 3% identifying as two or more races. Of our total enrollment, approximately 4% are English Learners, 13% are Students with Disabilities, and 44% are identified as Gifted. RFMS features two magnet programs, a highly competitive Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Magnet and Gifted Music Conservatory program. The school operates on a traditional 6-period day and offers extensive elective and enrichment opportunities, including music, art, leadership, and academic intervention programs. RFMS exemplifies a strong academic culture that promotes student agency, inclusivity, and equity. Through a collaborative school community and data-informed practices, the school prepares all students to be innovative thinkers and lifelong learners.

SALARY:
40G - B Basis ($116,751 – $145,407) – 221 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- No fewer than two years of successful experience in a middle/senior high school counseling office
Employees who have been issued a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*
*Candidates have one year to complete this requirement
For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.

- Developing and maintaining the master schedule and the matrix using student data
- Collaborating with all stakeholders to build a positive school culture and ensure equitable access to a rigorous curriculum
- Developing and leading professional development/training for staff, students, and parents related to A-G requirements, Individual Graduation Plans, and college readiness
