REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR,
ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS
41G (School Support Administrator, 0515)
Under the direction of the Regional Superintendent and the Administrator of Instruction, assists the regional instructional team in supporting professional development related to the academic needs of all students. Collaborates and partners with the regional team, community of schools, school personnel, parents, and the community to ensure school staff are able to effective implement a data-driven, results-based support services and programs for all students.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates the implementation of professional development related to the District's mathematics plan, instructional guides, math concept lessons, and interim assessments for elementary schools in the region and community of schools
- Uses student-centered data to identify and design professional development strategies to address areas of need in mathematics instruction in grades ETK-6
- Works with schools to build capacity of school staff to effectively implement multi-tiered systems of support for all students
- Provides assistance in the design, development, and implementation of the Math Professional Development Plan at the elementary level
- Supports and facilitates professional development to support school staff in the integration of content literacy across all subject areas as outlined in the California content standards
- Works collaboratively with all central office instructional units to plan for and implement professional development related to the California content standards, standards- based mathematics instruction, and access strategies to support all students including English learners, Standard English learners, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, foster youth, students with disabilities, and gifted and talented education students
- Serves as the elementary mathematics professional development liaison between the region, community of schools, and the Division of Instruction to ensure coherence, alignment and coordination across the District
- Performs other duties as assigned related to building capacity of school staff to be effective educators
SALARY:
41G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($141,102 – $176,010) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2026.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g., coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
- At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school experience as an elementary teacher or as a mathematics instructional coach
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Permanent certificated employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District
- Knowledge of:
- grades ETK-6 mathematics California content standards, curriculum, and effective evidence-based instructional strategies
- evidence-based and standards-based mathematics instruction that promotes successful vertical articulation of students
(e.g., grades Pre-K–K to grades 1–5 to grades 6–8 to grade)
- and understanding of the instructional strategies that promote accelerated achievement of English learners, Standard English learners, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, foster youth, students with disabilities, and gifted and talented education students
- Response to Instruction and Intervention (Rtl2) to promote mathematics proficiency for all students
- and skill in instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Experience:
- in designing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory
- as either a mathematics lead or department chair
- delivering mathematics professional development using adult learning theory and adhering to a study, model, practice, plan approach
- with development common formative assessments aligned to targets
- providing content specific actionable feedback, measuring implementation of the feedback provided, and following up
CONTINUE - DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to:
- use technology for data collection and analysis for reporting, teacher improvement, and to promote academic proficiency for all students
- interpret and use data for the purpose of improving student achievement and informing instruction
- work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups
- travel to multiple sites throughout the District
- Strong instructional design background reflective of mastery-based and personalized learning
- Strong oral and written communication skills
