REGIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR,
PUPIL SERVICES AND ATTENDANCE (PSA)

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Student Support and Attendance Services (SSAS) administrator and department director with establishing and monitoring metrics in support of the LAUSD Strategic Plan
- Serves as the regional office lead administrator on all matters related to child-welfare and attendance
- Supervises all program specialist responsible for the direct supervision of school site pupil services and attendance counselors
- Develops key strategies to implement and oversee the implementation of iAttend strategies aligned with the LAUSD Strategic Plan
- Administers and oversees the work of rendering personalized services to students and families to mitigate barriers to enrollment, attendance, and school engagement efforts
- Designs and leads an evaluation plan for SSAS programs and initiatives
- Develops a department-wide strategic plan to identify and incorporate practices and policies that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and anti-racism across SSAS programs
- Designs and oversees training, support, and planning/data tool development for division, regions, SSAS staff, and other region personnel to positively impact student attendance, social-emotional wellness, positive peer and inter-group relationships, behavior, and academic achievement for all students
- Provides regular reports to the SSAS administrator, regional superintendents, and schools staff related to student attendance and school enrollment and stability
- Leads efforts to identify evidence-based practices and designs tools and materials that build the capacity of all adults in all schools to cultivate safe, healthy, and welcoming and affirming learning and working environments where all students thrive
- Leads special projects including, but not limited to, clinical supervision, field supervision, continuing education units, iAttend events
- Develops key strategies and partnerships to support expansion of evidence-based practices and services with a special focus on services for underserved student populations
- Facilitate partnerships with county, city, and community agencies and other LAUSD departments to initiate and sustain collaboration with SSAS departments in the development, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of resources and services
- Serves as a District liaison with identified county, city, and community entities
CONTINUE - PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides administrative oversight of the department’s data management (e.g. Welligent, MiSiS), program evaluation, and research efforts and serves as a liaison with the Office of Data and Accountability related to research and reporting
- Develops systems of monitoring of programs and establishes documentation guidelines to ensure high-quality service delivery and integration of services across SSAS programs to maximize the efficiency and accountability in service documentation systems such as Welligent and MiSiS
- Supports the program development and evaluation of SSAS programs and data/documentation systems such as MiSiS, Welligent, MyData, and Focus
- Provides administrative oversight of budgetary items and provides strategic advisement to the director regarding budget matters
- Facilitates the administration and expansion of the SSAS programs, with an emphasis on documentation, quality assurance, and establishing billing opportunities
- Identifies opportunities for fiscal sustainability
- Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines and facilitates District policy revisions in assigned areas of focus with an emphasis on student attendance
- Leads cross-disciplinary SSAS special projects and initiatives
- Provides oversight of the recruitment, hiring, and processing of applicants for SSAS departments to ensure compliance and adhere to District hiring and recruitment policies
- Evaluates and directs the performance of assigned subordinate staff
- Serves as a crisis response team member, as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
43G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($149,046 – $185,940) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2025.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
- This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position (s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential
- At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school service in a non-classroom position(s) with assigned responsibilities directly related to wellness, mental health, school social work, pupil services, or school counseling
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) with an authorization in K-12 child welfare and attendance (CWA)
- Completion of college or university-level coursework, preferably a doctoral degree, in education, social work, counseling, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience leading collaboration with administrators, staff, and external agencies to develop large-scale initiatives to address and support school attendance and enrollment.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with City of Los Angeles departments, community agencies, law enforcement agencies, and on behalf of students
- Demonstrated experience in effective communication with students, parents, other District personnel, and community representatives, both individually and as a group
- Demonstrated experience composing District policy guides, reference guides and/or memorandums
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work comfortably in ambiguous climate and adapting to new circumstances
- Capacity to work independently while providing detailed updates on progress
- Strong project management skills, particularly, when managing multiple responsibilities
- Knowledge of public and private resources and child advocacy institutions working in coordination with the educational system and child welfare and attendance staff
- Experience in coordinating dropout prevention programs
- A commitment to producing consistently high quality, detailed work

- Ability to collaborate effectively with others at all levels and demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all interactions
- Ability to handle information in a confidential manner in accordance with established policies and legal requirements
- Experience advocating for the educational rights of targeted at-promise students including, but not limited to, foster care students, students experiencing homelessness, probation youth, and other at-risk students
- Ability to work effectively with all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic, and disability groups
- Physical and mental fitness to engage in services as and administrative coordinator, as certified by a licensed physician or medical officer pursuant to Education Code Section 44839 and evidence of freedom from active tuberculosis pursuant to Education Code Section 49406
