REGIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

43G (School Support Administrator, 0515)

 

Serves as the key leader to establish systems for school site and region personnel to strengthen the partnerships between families and schools that are mutually supportive and accountable for the success of all students.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and conducts professional development with region office personnel on family engagement for administrators, teachers, parent center staff, and school staff aligned to LAUSD Strategic Plan initiatives and measures
  • Guides and supports principals and school coordinators on matters regarding family engagement and school councils/committees, Title I and English learner family accountabilities, and the School Plan for Student Achievement
  • Designs and coordinates study groups and conferences for families, in collaboration with parent leaders, on a variety of family engagement topics to strengthen families’ capacity to serve as partners with school staff in support of their children’s high academic achievement and social emotional growth
  • Utilizes multiple forms of data and promotes the use of the School Experience Survey parent data to determine community needs for support
  • Establishes systems of uniform processes that lead to quality documentation of family engagement practices such as for SSC and ELAC agenda, minutes, attendance records, Title I Compact and Policy, other family engagement responsibilities
  • Establishes practice of progressive and effective two-way engagement and ensures all schools communicate parents’ rights and responsibilities to parents and stakeholders
  • Develops capacities at various levels for school and District personnel and with parents and the community to coordinate multiple communication and personalized outreach strategies to engage families in workshops, courses, and programming offered through the Family Academy in the areas of student achievement goals and the instructional program, wellness, civic engagement, and career development
  • Supervises, evaluates, and trains parent and family staff and designees to provide the support they need to respond to diverse parent and community interests, concerns, and needs, as well as, to align their support to schools for Strategic Plan initiatives and measures (Parent Portal, School Volunteers, Family Academy, Welcoming Environment, etc.).
  • Develops and provides an infrastructure for training and technical assistance to school site advisory committee designees and members
  • Develops and coordinates parent education and involvement activities that promote, and are aligned to, District plans and measures, including increasing graduation rates, college access, California content standards, Black Student Achievement Plan, and the Master Plan for English learners
  • Provides training to school staff and/or school action teams to implement effective parent engagement plans
  • Performs other family engagement duties as assigned for Title I, LCAP, and Strategic Plan

SALARY:

Salary: 43G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($149,046 – $185,940) – 261 paid days

NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2026.

  • In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
  • This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential (Out-of-state applicants must qualify for and obtain a California credential prior to selection approval.)
  • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

    • English learners
    • Foster youth
    • Standard English learners
    • Special education students
    • Students identified as gifted
    • Socioeconomically disadvantaged students
    • Students of various languages and cultures to reduce the achievement gap and create a warm and respectful environment for learning
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Principal experience is desired
  • Experience with collaborative planning
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience training parents and developing appropriate training materials for workshops
  • Experience working with and/or counseling parents regarding student academic achievement
  • Familiar with research and best practices in the field of parent engagement
