The Los Angeles Unified School District is now recruiting an Early Education Center Principal to lead and provide quality early learning experiences to prepare children for future success in school.

 

The Early Education Center (EEC) Principal supervises instruction, provides professional development to program staff, and facilitates the articulation between the early education center and the elementary school. The EEC Principal monitors the program, Department of Social Services, and California Department of Education requirements; and administers the center’s MiSiS – Early Ed. App, nutrition program, budget, and payroll reporting. The principal is also responsible for all compliance monitoring, recruiting, and assisting with transitions to kindergarten.

 

EECs are open 245 days a year, 5 days a week. They service children from ages 2-5 inclusive of children with special needs that are fully included with their general education peers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

We are seeking an exceptional Early Education Center (EEC) Principal who demonstrates strong instructional leadership, holds a valid Administrative Services Credential, and has extensive Pre-K experience. The ideal candidate brings knowledge of the Preschool Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations (PTKLF), DRDP, developmentally appropriate practice, and the unique needs of Pre-K English Learners. Experience with special education, inclusive early childhood environments, and providing actionable feedback aligned to the Teaching and Learning Framework is essential.

 

The candidate should be skilled in analyzing student data, supporting high-quality instruction, ensuring compliance with Title 5 and Title 22 regulations, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and academically rich school environment.

 

The candidate must also excel in communication, collaboration, and family engagement. They should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with staff, families, and community partners. The ideal leader is thoughtful, solutions-oriented, and dedicated to creating a welcoming, high-quality Early Education Center where all children can thrive.

SALARY:

   Salary: 38G - A Basis ($131,068 - $163,154) – 261 paid days

 

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • At least three school years of successful full-time service as a teacher (Grades K-3) OR
  • At least three school years of successful full-time service in an administrative or supervisory position in public-school child-development program, licensed child day care center, preschool or elementary school (Grades K-3)

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential OR a Child Development Program Director Permit

•   3.3 Multicultural education coursework*

  • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from a regionally accredited college or university

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
