Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services
Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Secondary School Assistant Principal to help lead the students, staff and community at North Hollywood High School towards academic success.
North Hollywood High School is a high performing school with grade levels 9 - 12 on a single track traditional calendar with 2475 students. The school has a diverse student population, with 71% Latino and 71% economically disadvantaged. North Hollywood High also has a Highly Gifted Magnet Program with 300 students, the Zoo Magnet with 260 students and a new STEM Magnet. There is also a School for Advanced Studies Program on campus. The school is located at 5231 Colfax Ave. North Hollywood, CA 91601.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have highly developed organizational skills and the ability to work with multiple Magnets and diverse school communities. The candidate should have instructional leadership skills including professional development and teacher growth and development; excellent communication skills with the community, parents, faculty and support staff; and the ability to utilize distributive leadership to achieve school-wide goals. An understanding and supportive view of the school's focus on "continuous improvement" is necessary. Extensive data analysis skills and experience with instructional strategies and supports to address English Learners, students with disabilities, general education and highly gifted student.
SALARY:
SALARY: 41G - B Basis ($119,477 – $149,036) – 221 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- No fewer than two years of successful experience in a middle/senior high school counseling office
Employees who have been issued a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential
- Master’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
