DEPARTMENT
The Elearning & Design Solutions Branch (EDS) offers development of Districtwide online training solutions and the creative graphic design services. EDS is led by a team with over 40 years of elearning experience and is staffed with highly-qualified Multimedia Designers who average over a decade’s worth of training and development experience.
EDS is responsible for providing solutions to assist the District in meeting Federal and State regulatory requirements such as Child Abuse Awareness and Suicide Prevention training while also providing solutions for the Division of Instruction, Special Education, and Student Health and Human Resources, to name only a few. The graphic designers are responsible for producing original artwork addressing the District’s graphical designs needs. The graphic designs have been used for the Superintendent’s State of the Schools speech, District billboards and truck advertising. The attendance campaign, unified enrollment initiative, Adult Education and District website have also leveraged the creative works of the EDS team.
Previous designs have garnered awards and recognitions by industry peers for their excellence in creativity and execution. From the smallest design element to bigger than life advertisements, no design is beyond the scope of the EDS team.

THE POSITION
A Multimedia Designer plans, organizes, develops, and coordinates content for eLearning and communication projects. Participates in various phases of development including initial concept, scope/requirements, instructional and multimedia design and development, assessment, and post project analysis.
General supervision is received from an administrator. Technical supervision is exercised over content development activities.
NOTE: This position is 100% in-person. Qualified candidates will report to physical worksites.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:
- Proficiency in multimedia tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere), video/audio editing software (Final Cut Pro), and eLearning development platforms (Articulate Storyline 360).
- Ability to design and develop interactive asynchronous training solutions using sound adult learning principles, including knowledge checks and closed captioning that satisfy Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.
- Experience structuring and producing instructional content, including storyboards, scripts, and training modules, with a clear and logical flow.
- Comfortable navigating both Mac and PC environments and troubleshooting multimedia compatibility issues across platforms.
- Strong writing and editing skills to refine client-provided scripts and enhance clarity and instructional impact.
- Effective time and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple assignments at different stages of development.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to lead client meetings to gather requirements, clarify goals, and deliver updated.
- A collaborative, customer-focused mindset with the professionalism to build rapport and deliver high-quality service to clients at all levels.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and develops multimedia solutions, materials, and programs to meet District knowledge sharing needs using various web-based and multimedia methodologies.
- Ensures transfer of knowledge of key concepts through optimization of interactive graphical user interfaces and environments, simulations, animation, audio/video, exercises, and sound adult learning practices.
- Edits and encodes digital video files for use on various web-based, multimedia platforms, and mobile devices.
- Creates, reviews, proofs, and edits content being developed by other project members and participates in post project debriefing.
- Coordinates, configures, and records narrative content for audio voice-overs.
- Performs closed captioning on multimedia solutions.
- Initiates and maintains liaison with end users, programmer, subject matter experts, consultants, and other District employees to accomplish assigned duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer instructional design, computer science, or related field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in the multimedia and learning industry or equivalent developing, coordinating, and conducting information or instructional programs. Experience in developing, creating, and/or producing web-based multimedia programs and other knowledge sharing solutions with strong writing skills is highly preferable.
Special: A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and use of a motor vehicle. (Pending PC approval)

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process.
