Assistant Principal, Adult Operations

 

The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an exceptional Assistant Principal, Adult Operations to serve as an integral part of the instructional leadership and lead students, staff, and community at Harbor Occupational Center towards academic success and career advancements.

 

Harbor Occupational Center is located in San Pedro and offers courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), High School Diploma, High School Equivalency, Exam Preparation, Adult Independent Study (AIS), and a variety of Career Technical Education Courses which lead to industry/state certification. Harbor Occupational Center is located at 740 N. Pacific Avenue, San Pedro, CA.  90731.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

will have experience and knowledge of adult education and career preparation, curriculum, including career and educational assessments for adults; knowledge of District, DACE, and LARAEC Strategic Plans/initiatives, policies and procedures; is committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders with the purpose of fostering a school environment that promotes academic achievement, socio-emotional growth, and strong partnerships with the community; have effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to plan, organize, supervise, evaluate and provide actionable feedback for improved performance; experience in planning, designing, and implementing professional development; experience with school operations; excellent time management skills; and the ability to multi-task while meeting commitments and deadlines.

SALARY:

Salary:    MST 38G – E Basis ($117,509 – $146,277) – 234 paid days   

  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment)
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to budget limitations
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher
  • A minimum of two years of experience must include 100 hours of part-time or 65 days of full-time, adult education and/or career technical education experience per year, including one year as an adult education classroom teacher
  • In lieu of the adult school experience, a minimum of two years of service in a position for which an administrative or counseling credential would be required in California may be substituted

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential 
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A valid California Teaching Credential                     
  • Multicultural coursework*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
