DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for Early Education Center Attendant is a highly reliable and detail-oriented individual who thrives on ensuring a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for young children and staff.
This person possesses demonstrable knowledge of proper cleaning materials and sanitation methods, is capable of efficiently executing a wide range of physical housekeeping tasks from floor care and waste disposal to linen management and minor building maintenance while following both written and oral instructions precisely.
Above all, the ideal candidate works proactively, exercises sound judgment in prioritizing tasks, and maintains a positive, cooperative demeanor when working closely with center personnel and interacting respectfully around the children.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Special:
A valid Los Angeles Unified School District Food Handler’s Health Certificate obtained upon appointment. Appointment to positions in this classification is subject to fingerprinting, a review of conviction record, and a background investigation.
Special Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, crawl, climb, reach overhead, crouch, kneel, balance, push, pull, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
An Early Education Center Attendant performs general housekeeping tasks in an Early Education Center.
Typical Duties include:
- Cleaning and washing tables and chairs, mopping floors, and vacuumming carpeted areas.
- Collecting dirty linen; preparing laundry slips; and receiving, counting, and storing clean linen.
- Dusting furniture and cupboards.
- Straightening, stacking, and scrubing cots.
- Emptying waste baskets and disposing of waste materials.
- Sweeping or hosing walks and maintaining other outside areas.
- Cleaning classrooms, halls, offices, and bathrooms as necessary.
- Removing spots from floors, walks, woodwork, furniture and fixtures.
- Replacing incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and electrical plug fuses.
- Receiving, checking, and storing housekeeping supplies.
- Moving desks, chairs, tables, and equipment to prepare rooms for cleaning or meetings.
- Assisting in serving prepared meals.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months. The hiring list resulting from this assessment process may be used to fill open positions in related job classifications.
