DEPARTMENT OR SCHOOL SITE
The Early Childhood Education Division provides high quality early education programs to maximize school readiness. Early Education Center Aide I (Substitute) positions are utilized to support three different programs of Early Childhood Education (ECE) centers, the California State Preschool Programs (CSPP), and the California School Age Families Education (Cal-SAFE) program.
Early Childhood Education (ECE) centers provide high quality developmentally appropriate preschool programs that address the social-emotional, physical and cognitive needs of approximately 10,000 preschool children between two-four years of age. We currently have 84 full day early childhood education center programs on a year-round calendar.
California State Preschool Programs (CSPP) are three-hour educational programs that provide personalized learning experiences for children ages three and four years old. These programs are currently located at 62 early education centers, elementary schools and adult schools and follow a traditional school year calendar.
California School Age Families Education (Cal-SAFE) Program is a comprehensive, integrated, community-linked, school-based program that serves expecting and parenting students and their infants and toddlers. The Program is designed to improve the educational experience, increase the availability of support services for enrolled teen parents, and provide childcare and development services for their children. The four Infant Centers offer services to 60 infant/toddlers ages six weeks to two and a half years during the high school's instructional time, usually six hours per day for 180 days per year.
