INFORMATION ABOUT LAUSD

 

The Los Angeles Unified School District offers the District Proficiency and Instructional Assistance Test to individuals who are interested in:
-Meeting the Every Student Succeeds Act requirements to be eligible for employment as a paraprofessional (e.g., Teacher Assistant, Instructional Assistant, Library Aide, etc.).
-To be eligible for employment as a Vocational Instructor with LAUSD.
-To satisfy the high school educational requirement for classified (non-teaching) job opportunities.
 

TESTING FEE:
In accordance with the Every Student Succeeds Act, and in an effort to support this service, a nominal fee of $7.00 will be charged for each test taken. This fee will be collected on the day of your scheduled test appointment. Payment instructions will be included in your invitation to the test. Cash or personal checks will not be accepted. With the exception of individuals being hired as vocational instructors, active LAUSD employees who have received an employment offer from a school administrator are exempt from this fee.

 

TEST RETAKE POLICY:
Candidates who are unsuccessful on a test must wait a period of 30 days before scheduling a retake appointment. A testing fee will be charged for each administration of the District Proficiency or Instructional Assistance Test.

 

LAUSD Employees: Please be advised that all LAUSD employees must sign in to the GlobalProtect Virtual Private Network (VPN) in order to submit an application from an external network outside of an LAUSD location. For assistance with installing the GlobalProtect virtual network, please contact Information Technology Services at (213) 443-1300 or (213) 241-5200.

APPLICATION PROCESS

 

RECEIVING COMMUNICATION ABOUT THE TESTING PROCESS - IMPORTANT NOTE:
All correspondence related to this employment selection process (invitation & results letters) will be sent through email. Individuals who submit an application to take the District Proficiency and/or Instructional Assistance test will be emailed instructions to schedule their testing appointment.

 

For CURRENT LAUSD EMPLOYEES:
Correspondence will be sent to your WORK EMAIL account. If you have never used your LAUSD email account, please contact the Information Technology Division help desk at (213) 241-5200 to activate your account.

 

For NON-LAUSD employees, including LAID-OFF, FORMER LAUSD EMPLOYEES:
Correspondence will be sent to the email address you indicated in your candidate profile. Please check your email frequently to ensure you receive the most up-to-date information.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Individuals who have taken the District Proficiency and/or Instructional Assistance tests in the past may already have a candidate profile in our system. If you are unable to submit your request to take the District Proficiency and/or Instructional Assistance Test because your information already exists in the system, DO NOT CREATE A SECOND PROFILE. Instead, please use the most recent email you provided when you last scheduled your test appointment so that you may reset your candidate profile password.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months. The hiring list resulting from this assessment process may be used to fill open positions in related job classifications.
