DIRECTOR, LINKED LEARNING

Serves as a key leader to align student needs at secondary schools with the resources to ensure college and career readiness. Assists in the development and implementation of the instructional program and the Linked Learning approach for schools with Linked Learning pathways; plans strategically; mentors school-based administrators; leads professional development; and utilizes accountability measures to ensure that all schools excel in meeting their student outcomes and the District student graduate profile.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops support systems and conditions to lead and advocate for all students to have positive learning opportunities through the implementation of the Linked Learning program
- Directs the implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of District-wide policies and procedures for the Linked Learning program
- Develops and maintains an infrastructure for coordination of the Linked Learning program and supports schools as they plan, create, and implement programs and activities that address diverse students’ needs
- Designs and implements an infrastructure for professional development of school and District stakeholders and industry partners
- Supervises and evaluates Linked Learning instructional coaches and work-based learning coordinators
- Provides leadership and training to school-site administrators in identifying the best practices in the Linked Learning approach to raise student engagement and achievement in schools
- Guides school administrators to create pathway-cohorted student schedules ensuring targeted student subgroups have access to pathway program of study
- Assesses the pedagogical details of the school improvement plan in every school, helping principals set key objectives for learning and measurable benchmarks including attainment of Linked Learning Silver and Gold certifications from the Linked Learning Alliance
- Establishes staffing patterns, student grouping plans, scheduling, and organizational structures that lead to desired student outcomes
- Uses data to evaluate and drive instructional changes at schools by analyzing and determining next steps based on portfolios and defenses, disaggregated state test scores, school walkthroughs using the Behaviors of Learning and Teaching, and work towards Silver and Gold certifications from the Linked Learning Alliance
CONTINUE PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guides and trains work-based learning coordinators to develop MOUs with industry partners and work with industry partners to provide a continuum of work-based learning experiences for students
- Supports school administrators and stakeholders as they align budgets with students’ needs to ensure that rigorous instructional programs and effective support services are delivered to all students
- Evaluates schools in creating a learning environment that promotes equity and high expectations for academic achievement and determines if the school remains in Linked Learning
- Analyzes, assesses, and provides feedback to school and coaches’ plans for achieving Silver and Gold Linked Learning certifications
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
Salary: 45G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($157,448 – $196,350) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2026.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions due to budget limitations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential
- At least (5) years of successful, full-time Pre-K – 12 public school teaching experience
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential (Out-of-state applicants must qualify for and obtain a California credential prior to selection approval.)
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of Linked Learning
- Leadership experience as a secondary principal demonstrated by a successful track record of improved student achievement
- Knowledge of Linked Learning strategies and resources to increase graduation and reduce drop-outs rates
- Demonstrates sophisticated understanding and ability to apply theories of:
- Student growth and development
- Group process, communications, and organizational planning
- Job-embedded technologies
- Differentiated instructional strategies for struggling students
- Standardized, authentic, observational, and alternative assessments
- Understands and supports the instructional needs of:
- English Language learners at all stages of English acquisition
- Socioeconomically-disadvantaged students
- Special Education students
- Students identified as gifted
- Students of various languages and cultures so as to reduce the achievement gap and create a warm and respectful environment for learning
- Skills in designing and delivering staff development
