The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to collaborate with, support and lead the students, staff, and community at Del Amo Elementary School towards academic excellence. Del Amo Elementary School is the proud home of the Dynamic Dolphins. Del Amo Elementary School is a small neighborhood school in a close-knit community, where multi-generations of families have attended from this community. Del Amo ES has strong ties to and is supported by the community. Del Amo ES has always strived to build a strong academic and healthy socio-emotional foundation for students, recognizing the need to embrace diversity, inclusion and culture in educating the whole child. The school focuses on the LAUSD Strategic Plan and Region South's strategic instructional strategies in ELA and Math. Del Amo ES recognizes the need for differentiation and intervention as an added layer of support for struggling students. Del Amo ES is a school wide Title I School with free and reduced meal recipients. The student population is comprised of 312 students, Pre-K – 5th grade. The demographics of students at Del Amo ES include: 61% Latino, 16% Filipino, 3% Asian, 12% African American, 2% two or more races, 2% Pacific Islander, 2% White, 2% Not Reported. There are 2% Students with Disabilities, and 11% English Learners. The school is located at 21228 Water Street, Carson.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Ideal Candidate will be a visionary and innovative leader who will contribute to a culture of collaboration, interdependence, and mutual accountability; will have in-depth knowledge and experiences with diverse populations of students (English Learners, Special Education, GATE), and committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders with a purpose of fostering a school environment that promotes academic achievement, social-emotional growth, safety, and strong partnerships with parents and the community; will have effective oral and written communication skills; will have knowledge of State, Federal and LAUSD policies, procedures and regulations; will have knowledge and experience with standards based instruction, the Teaching and Learning Framework, the Master Plan for English Learners; be able to conduct classroom observations and provide actionable feedback for improved performance; will have experience in planning, designing, and implementing professional development; will have experience with school operations and school budget preparation and planning; will have excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask while meeting commitments and deadlines.

SALARY:

SALARY: 40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days

 

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential                                    • Multicultural coursework*
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university               • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
