The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at Danube Elementary School towards academic success.

 

Danube Elementary School serves approximately 260 students in the north San Fernando Valley. It is a Title 1 school celebrating a diverse student population with the majority of students identifying as Hispanic students, 10% Emergent Bilingual students, 21% students receiving Special Education services, and 6% GATE students. Danube Elementary offers four Special Day programs in addition to the general education program. It is currently a Tier 2 LAUSD focus school. Danube proudly offers after school robotics/coding classes, arts enrichment, and high-dose in-person tutoring to name a few enrichment programs.
 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The Ideal Candidate works collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community organizations to promote the school's growth in all areas, including programs, enrollment, and partnerships. The candidate demonstrates the skills and strong motivation to lead the school forward with vision and action. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the District's Strategic Plan, instructional initiatives, LAUSD Board goals, the Common Core State Standards, improvement science and PDSA cycles, data analysis skills for shared decision making, the LAUSD Leadership Framework, the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, the Emergent Bilingual Master Plan, and special education guidelines.  The ideal candidate has the ability to monitor and guide all instructional programs, facilitate differentiated professional development, and manage resource allocations to support full implementation and execution of instructional strategies and action steps stated in the school's plans. Lastly, the ideal candidate listens to all perspectives, focuses on positive school culture, and is committed to being at Danube for the students, staff, and community.

SALARY:

 41G - E Basis ($126,504 - $157,802) – 234 paid days

NOTE: The salary range listed above is effective on January 1, 2025

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential                                    • Multicultural coursework*
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university               • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

    • Experiences increasing parent engagement, registered volunteers, and utilizing parents as partners.
