COORDINATOR, NONPUBLIC SERVICES SUPPORT (ERICS)

Under the direction of the Director, Due Process Department, Los Angeles Unified School District, Division of Special Education, the duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technical assistance to schools in the LAUSD SELPA, including LAUSD SELPA District-operated charter schools and LAUSD SELPA Charter-operated schools, LAUSD contracted nonpublic school (NPS), and nonpublic residential treatment center (NPS/RTC) sites regarding strategies, supports including intensive counseling/family support, and procedures to ensure students with disabilities receive instruction in the least restrictive environment
- Guides the preparation and development of effective Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities, including the need for intensive counseling/family support. Provides technical support and guidance to District staff surrounding IEP timelines and other compliance and key performance indicators
- Provides oversight and guidance over the placement and case management of students with disabilities in NPS/RTCs
- Conducts statutorily required oversight responsibilities of contracting NPS/RTCs
- Develops, provides, and monitors staff training focused on effective research-based practices including strategies for working with students with social-emotional needs to ensure student success in classroom instruction, intensive counseling/family support, and school-wide behavior for LAUSD SELPA, including LAUSD SELPA District-operated charter schools, LAUSD SELPA Charter-operated schools, and LAUSD contracted NSS/RTC sites
CONTINUE - PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides oversight, training, monitoring, and evaluation of Educationally Related Intensive Counseling Services (ERICS) staff to include specialists, and Special Education counselors
- Provides training to all Special Education region administrative staff including assistant principals and elementary instructional specialists (APEIS)
- Provides coaching and other support strategies to assist school-site staff including assistant principals in effectively working with students with disabilities including appropriate use of academics, intensive counseling/family support, and social supports, as pre-referral interventions
- Analyzes data to identify trends and District needs related to IEP-related compliance measures, ongoing monitoring of nonpublic services contractors, and NPS/RTC placements
- Provides support to students with moderate/severe disabilities in successfully transitioning to less restrictive environments (LRE)
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with the District/AALA agreement
- During periods of critical personnel shortage of other emergency situations, temporarily perform duties as directed within the authorization of any credentials held and registered with the Office of the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools
SALARY:
40G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($137,882 – $171,725) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2026.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
- This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g. coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
- At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school experience working with students with disabilities in a certificated capacity
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- A valid Special Education Credential or Pupil Personnel Services Credential with an authorization in School Social Work or School Psychology
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), California Special Education regulations and District special education policies and procedures
- Experience working with students with significant social-emotional needs that are impacting their ability to access the curriculum
- Experience using data to design and implement instructional and behavioral plans for individual students and groups of students
- Commitment to ensuring equity and access for students and their families
- Successful experience presenting to large and small groups
- Strong experience in both general and special education settings
- Experience with nonpublic schools and agencies and nonpublic services Master Contract stipulations
- Experience with District data systems, including Welligent, MiSiS, and MyData
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong project management, organizational skills, and written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership ability in collaboration, conflict resolution, negotiation and professional development
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience and commitment to working collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Ability to travel to other sites and locations throughout LAUSD
