COORDINATOR, HUMAN RELATIONS PROGRAM

The Coordinator, Human Relations Program serves as a field staff administrator within the Office of Human Relations, Diversity,
and Equity (HRDE). Supervised and evaluated by the Administrator, Student Support and Attendance Services, the coordinator supports the alignment of District instructional priorities with human relations and educational equity strategies. The coordinator focuses on developing and delivering professional development; designing and implementing school-based human relations programs; guiding schools and regions in recovery and intervention efforts; and fostering safe, inclusive, and violence-free campuses that promote student well-being and equity.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinates and supports the alignment of District instructional priorities and initiatives with human relations and educational equity strategies
· Develops and presents professional development to schools, regions, and central office staff on topics including bullying prevention and intervention, intergroup relations, conflict resolution, and antibias education
· Designs and implements school-based human relations programs to strengthen positive school climate and culture.
· Facilitates the Human Relations Council to guide the implementation of human relations initiatives and promote collaboration, advocacy, and strategic planning
· Facilitates the LGBT/HRDE Liaison Program
· Administers and oversees the Human Relations Volunteer Cadre, including coordination, training, and deployment of members to support schools
· Mediates conflict resolution and provides consultation, resources, and support to address intergroup conflict
· Provides leadership during crises and critical incidents, including issues related to bias, discrimination, harassment, school violence, or other human relations concerns
· Conducts school climate assessments, develops action plans, and makes appropriate recommendations and referrals
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (CONTINUED)
· Assists schools and regions with intervention and recovery efforts in the aftermath of student disruptions
· Develops and manages internal and external communications regarding HRDE programs, resources, and services
· Coordinates special projects, initiatives, and activities that advance human relations, diversity, and equity across schools and the District
· Leads the recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers, classified staff, and certificated staff engaged in HRDE initiatives
· Directs the implementation and monitoring of human-relations policies to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates
· Oversees Title IV federal budget compliance and participates in Federal Program Monitoring (FPM)
· Collects, analyzes, and utilizes data for short- and long-range planning, evaluates program effectiveness, informs professional development, and recommends improvements to systems and program design
· Collaborates with District and community partners to maximize services, supports, and resources for students, families, and schools
· Prepares reports and presentations for school site leaders, region leadership, and central office on issues related to school climate, equity, and human relations initiatives
· Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
40G, School Support Administrator (0515) – E Basis ($123,618 – $153,961) – 234 paid days
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
- This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g. coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent professional development skills, including experience planning and delivering differentiated training for diverse audiences
· Demonstrated instructional leadership ability, with knowledge of standards-based curriculum, instruction, adult learning, and effective research-based educational strategies
· In-depth knowledge of District policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
· Knowledge and understanding of research-based and standards-based instructional data practices that support systemic change.
· Knowledge and understanding of state and federal mandates regarding students with disabilities
· Demonstrated experience using student information systems (e.g., MiSiS, MyData, FOCUS, Whole Child, Welligent) and other software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· Experience building collaborative partnerships with District offices, community agencies, and families to improve student outcomes
· Experience supervising and evaluating staff
· Excellent conflict resolution and mediation skills, including successful experience in human relations

· Demonstrated ability to lead crisis response, conflict resolution, and mediation in complex school or community situations
· Ability to independently manage multiple, time-sensitive projects, organize resources, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment to meet goals and deadlines
· Ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data for short- and long-range planning and program evaluation
· Ability to analyze data to improve student achievement, behavior, and inform instruction
· Ability to run data system queries, extract data, sort, update, and merge data files from a variety of sources
· Ability to pull, summarize, and validate data in response to urgent requests
· Ability to create reports and produce spreadsheets, pivot tables, graphs, and customized data files
· Ability to plan and implement differentiated professional development aligned to standards-based instruction
· Ability to use data to build multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for academics and behavior
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while ensuring compliance with District and state requirements
· Ability to make, support, and explain recommendations
· Strong and effective oral and written communication skills
