Cesar Chavez – Technology Preparatory Academy, is a Zone of Choice School as well as a School of Advanced Studies and Silver Linked Learning Seal School. It is located at 1001 Arroyo Avenue in San Fernando, California. TPA is a small comprehensive high school that currently serves approximately 320 students from grade 9th – 12th grades. It is a Title I school serving a population comprised of 97% Hispanic, 1% White, 1% African American/Black, and 1% Asian/Other. Approximately 20% of TPA students are identified as Emergent Bilinguals with Spanish being the most common home language within the Emergent Bilingual population. In addition, approximately 10% of the students are identified as Gifted. Students complete the CTE Networking/Cyber Security pathway to become certified with Network A Certification. The teachers, staff, administrators, parents, students, and community are a partnership dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
will be a strong instructional leader as well as have background in educational technology and curriculum infusion; have experience implementing effective practices in leading the counseling and guidance program, knowledge of student services and developing the school's master schedule; have high school experience in facilitating professional development meetings to analyze student data, discuss best instructional practices, identify student needs, and plan differentiated instruction; have experience conducting classroom observations utilizing the Teaching and Learning Framework platform as well as supervising and evaluating instructional staff and paraprofessionals to improve instruction; have experience in working with WASC and SPSA to ensure that the professional development and intervention services are aligned with school goals; have knowledge of the Discipline Foundations policy and School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention support strategies and safe school plans; have experience working with parent center and community engagement and development of a school’s Parent Involvement Policy and School-Parent Compact; have familiarity with CTE programs and implementation; knowledge of standardized testing, such as SBA, IAB, iReady, ELPAC; have the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with instructional leaders, students, staff, and the community; possess the skill to work with complex structures within the school to service the needs of all students; and possess strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish is desirable.
SALARY:
SALARY: 40G - B Basis ($116,751 – $145,407) – 221 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Five years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- No fewer than two years of successful experience in a middle/senior high school counseling office
Employees who have been issued a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- A valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.

- Experience interpreting data to make instructional decisions to develop a master schedule that ensured a culturally and responsive instructional program that resulted in student achievement
- Experience supporting the instructional program at a school using the Teaching and Learning framework and implementation of progress monitoring tools to support academic growth
- Experience effectively supporting diverse populations i.e special education, English Learners, BSAP, various specialized student populations, toward meeting higher proficiency levels
