MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

 

EDUCATION:

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree, including completion of at least 12 semester units or equivalent in organization and management, computer science, accounting, finance, economics, statistics, research techniques, business, personnel, communication, and/or public administration. LAUSD experience beyond the minimum required in an administrative staff or professional position that involved project management; obtaining, compiling, and analyzing data for the preparation of recommendations related to work systems, methods, and procedures; organization and staffing; communications and record controls; personnel administration; financial administration; or other administrative matters may be substituted for the required college education on a year-for-year basis.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Six months of experience as an Administrative Staff Aide or one year in an administrative staff or professional-level position involving the review, analysis, and preparation of recommendations related to work systems, methods, and procedures; organization and staffing; communications and records controls; personnel administration; financial administration; or other administrative matters.

 

A master's degree may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.

 

SPECIAL:

A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the use of a motor vehicle, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

An Assistant Administrative Analyst assists in conducting research, surveys, and studies of work flow and simplification, methods and procedures, and staff organization.

 

The typical duties for this position include:

  • Developing methods and sources for obtaining, compiling, and analyzing data.
  • Preparing written reports and making oral presentations.
  • Conferring with District personnel and representatives of other governmental agencies in regard to projects, surveys, studies, and related problems.
  • Summarizing reports, articles, and other pertinent materials and analyzing their relationship to assigned projects or studies.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

 

The ideal candidate for this position will possess experience verifying, gathering, and preparing reports, and compiling, analyzing data, and finding data trends while utilizing spreadsheets/data management systems to create pivot tables, vlookups, and manage multiple large databases. This person will also possess experience with word processing, presentation systems, and the ability to learn new technology quickly. An individual in this role will have a strong ability to think critically and apply sound judgment to manage assignments independently, as well as showcase initiative to follow up, ask pertinent questions, and be analytical-minded. Next, the ideal candidate will show strong attention to detail to collect and record information into databases, self-management skills to manage their time, work schedule efficiency, follow through on assignments, and meet deadlines, and an ability to be a self-starter, dependable, and accountable for their work. Lastly, this person will be able to work both independently and in teams to produce successful outcomes.

EMPLOYMENT SELECTION PROCESS

The assessment process for this position TENTATIVELY consists of a computerized multiple-choice test, computerized skills aptitude tests, and a scored questionnaire validation.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive employment assessment process. Candidates who pass all parts of the assessment process are placed on a hiring (eligibility) list based on their assessment score. Hiring departments may make job offers to candidates on the top three ranks of the hiring list. Eligibility typically lasts for 12 months.
