Serves as a key instructional leader who aligns student needs with resources to ensure academic success and assists the Executive Director, Equitable School Performance Office in providing leadership to develop and implement instructional initiatives and strategic instructional support to foster growth and ensure equitable support to schools, to close long persistent equity gaps for students, and to implement strategic goals of academic excellence for all students.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads professional development; strategizes and utilizes measures to ensure that all schools excel in meeting their goals
- Leads school administrators and stakeholders to align resources to support the needs of all students
- Leads administrators to create a school learning environment that promotes equity and high expectations for academic achievement
- Serves as the Equitable School Performance Office’s key leader in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Pre-K to 12 schools instructional programs, including standards-based instructional programs
- Assesses school improvement plans and guides administrators in establishing objectives for learning and measurable benchmarks
- Plans for and administers instructional initiatives that support all students, including English learners, Standard English learners, foster youth, students with disabilities, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, and gifted and talented education students
- Works collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure a safe and effective learning and school campus environment for all students
- Directs and evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
49G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($162,967 – $202,934) – 261 paid days
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
- At least eight years (8) of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than three (3) years of which must have been as a school principal
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

Employees who have been issued a Below Standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of successful, full-time experience in a position that evaluates principals and supervises schools
- High school principal experience leading A-G Graduation
- Experience leading elementary, middle school, and high school instructional programs
- Leadership experience demonstrated by a successful track record of improved student achievement
- Experience leading the implementation of standards-based instruction for all core subjects
- Leadership experience in planning, organizing, and implementing professional development which is aligned with District priorities
- Experience in leveraging instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Experience in leading Equity, Access, and Acceleration initiatives
- Experience participating in the review processes of instructional programs
- Experience in the use and analysis of assessment data to inform instruction
- Knowledge of District policies and procedures, organizational structure and functions, the California Education Code, and school operations and safety regulations
CONTINUE - DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the instructional needs of English learners, Standard English learners, students with disabilities, students identified as gifted and talented, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, and students of various languages and cultures
- Proven leadership and management skills in resolving crises, complaints, and controversial situations
- Ability to support the instructional needs of all student populations and students of various languages and cultures
- Ability to build consensus with and develop collegial relationships with staff and stakeholders
- Ability and integrity in dealing with confidential matters
