ADMINISTRATOR OF INSTRUCTION, TRANSITIONAL PROGRAMS
49G (School Support Administrator, 0515)
Serves as a key instructional leader who aligns student needs with resources to ensure academic success and assists the Chief of Transitional Programs in leading multiple pathways for college and career readiness for all students, focusing on early education, adult school learners, UTK-12 college- and career-themed virtual academies and the options programs District-wide. The Administrator of Instruction will expand and lead application of District-wide systems and programs to invest in all students.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads professional development; strategizes and utilizes measures to ensure that all schools excel in meeting their goals
- Leads school administrators and stakeholders to align resources to support the needs of all students in early education, TK-12 college- and career-themed virtual academies, the Division of Adult and Career Education, and the Options programs
- Leads administrators to create a school learning environment that promotes equity and high expectations for academic achievement
- Serves as the key leader in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s instructional programs, including standards-based instructional programs
- Assesses school improvement plans and guides administrators in establishing objectives for learning and measurable benchmarks
- Plans for and administers instructional initiatives that support all students learning, including English learners, Standard English learners, foster youth, students with disabilities, socioeconomically-disadvantaged students, and gifted and talented education students
- Works collaboratively with the leadership team to ensure a safe and effective learning and school campus environment for all students
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
49G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($162,967 – $202,934) – 261 paid days
NOTE: This position will close on June 30, 2025.
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the
District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
-
- At least eight years (8) of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s) , with no fewer than three (3) years of which must have been as a school principal
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of successful, full-time experience in a position that evaluates principals and supervises schools
- Experience leading elementary, middle school, and high school instructional programs
- Leadership experience demonstrated by a successful track record of improved student achievement
- Experience leading the implementation of standards-based instruction for all core subjects
- Leadership experience in planning, organizing, and implementing professional development which is aligned with District priorities
- Experience in leveraging instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Experience in leading Equity, Access, and Acceleration initiatives
- High school principal experience to lead A-G Graduation
- Experience in the use and analysis of assessment data to inform instruction
- Ability to support the instructional needs of all student populations and students of various languages and cultures
- Ability to build consensus with and develop collegial relationships with staff and stakeholders
