ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR, TEACHER GROWTH & INDUCTION

43G (School Support Administrator, 0515)

 

The Human Resources (HR) Division, Induction and Credentialing Programs, is now accepting applications for the position of Administrative Coordinator, Teacher Growth & Induction (TGI).

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the curriculum and implementation for the District’s clear teaching credentialing programs
  • Supervises the curriculum and implementation for teacher clear credentialing programs to ensure that all state standards are met, LAUSD initiatives are evident, the social emotional needs of the candidates are being met, and all candidates are competent educators based on the Teaching and Learning Framework and coursework assessments
  • Designs and delivers professional development to TGI specialists, mentors, and professional experts
  • Manages the design of the TGI accreditation website based on the requirements of the new accreditation cycle
  • Develops and updates TGI Handbook and corresponding program documents
  • Supports the LAUSD liaison to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) clear teacher credentialing meetings
  • Leads partner meetings with contracted external educational organizations
  • Ensures quality control of induction programs through data collection, analysis, and action planning
  • Reviews candidate portfolios to ensure completion of program requirements and recommends to HR for clear credential filing
  • Collaborates with other HR units to ensure alignment of services and support to candidates
  • Evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY:

Salary: 43G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($149,046 – $185,940) – 261 paid days

  • In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
  • This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Permanent certificated employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District
  • At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public-school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been as a school principal
  • At least five (5) years of successful, full-time Pre-K–12 teaching experience
  • A valid and clear California Administrative Services Credential
  • An earned master's degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework*

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a notice.

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive knowledge of elementary and secondary instruction and pedagogy
  • Knowledge of LAUSD instructional initiatives
  • Knowledge of and experience with the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework
  • Knowledge of CTC induction requirements
  • Knowledge of current trends and research addressing teacher effectiveness and the impact of mentoring
  • Extensive experience in effective coaching including the ability to engage teachers in collaborative, non-evaluative, and instructionally focused, problem-solving conversations that support a growth mindset and self-reflection
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory
  • Leadership skills in facilitating groups in instructional improvement transformational leadership, collaboration, consensus building, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to guide individuals and groups towards task accomplishments with appropriate interpersonal style and methods
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
