ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR, CHARTER SCHOOLS DIVISION
44G (School Support Administrator, 0515)
The Administrative Coordinator, Charter Schools Division serves a key role in managing and executing day-to-day and strategic deliverables of the division and acts for the Charter Schools Director as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides strategic advisement and planning for priority areas of the Charter Schools Division, including engaging stakeholders, preparing written materials, and making presentations
- Manages the execution of day-to-day operational needs and strategic initiatives
- Supervises and provides management support and direction to staff as required/assigned
- Analyzes and interprets relevant legislation, District policy relating to charter schools, and performance data, and recommends changes, as necessary
- Supervises the preparation and completion of, and when appropriate, prepares Board of Education and committee reports
- Maintains collaborative working relationships with Charter Schools Division, central office, and region staff as part of the ongoing oversight of charter schools and analysis of school performance
- Responds to questions from Board members and their staff regarding items for action in board briefings and open Board meetings, as needed
- Interfaces with federal, state, and local offices and community organizations
- Provides input and guidance to the Charter Schools Director regarding the range of charter issues including, without limitation, the instructional program and Proposition 39 facilities matters
- Provides input regarding budget matters
- Performs other duties as assigned
SALARY:
44G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($153,246 – $191,103) – 261 paid days
- In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
- This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section
22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential
- An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework *

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of and experience with federal and state charter legislation, and charter school authorization, oversight, and operations
- Experience working with effective schools, especially charter schools, as well as knowledge of school reform principles, practices, current trends, and literature and research in charter schools
- At least two years of experience directly supervising and evaluating staff
- Leadership skills in facilitating groups in instructional improvement, transformational leadership, collaboration, consensus building and conflict resolution
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with all ethnic, racial, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups and individuals
- Ability to speak Spanish
