The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at 232nd Place Elementary towards academic success.
Two Hundred and Thirty Second Place Elementary School currently serves approximately 414 students in ETK-5th grade, including 4 Special Day programs and one Resource Specialist Program. The student population at 232nd Place Elementary reflects the rich diversity of the Carson community, with approximately 59.9% Hispanic/Latino, 23.7% Asian (including Filipino), 8.5% identifying as two or more races, 4.8% African American, 1.9% White, and 1.2% Pacific Islander. Additionally, 63.5% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and approximately 57% receive support through Title I funding. This school is located at 23240 Archibald Avenue, Carson, CA 90746.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
will be a dynamic instructional leader who collaborates with the school community to bring forth positive change and promote high levels of student achievement. This individual will possess deep knowledge of the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the LAUSD Leadership Framework, Teaching and Learning Framework, English Learner Master Plan, Special Education programs, and the District’s instructional goals. They will have the ability to supervise and evaluate the instructional program to ensure high-quality teaching and learning across all grade levels, as well as a strong capacity to facilitate professional development that results in improved student outcomes and builds teacher capacity. The candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of working collaboratively with all stakeholders while consistently exhibiting professionalism and respect in all interactions. They will be able to articulate clear and specific expectations for teachers, staff, and students, while providing the necessary guidance and support to achieve those expectations. Strong planning and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively. Additionally, the candidate will have a solid understanding of Magnet school policies and procedures and be capable of supporting innovative instructional programs aligned to Magnet themes. They must possess the skills to analyze and interpret data to inform instructional decisions and develop action plans that lead to continuous and sustainable academic growth. Experience in managing school operations, including the development and oversight of school budgets, is also essential. Finally, the candidate should be able to lead the successful implementation of a school-wide positive behavior support plan that promotes a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
SALARY:
41G - E Basis ($126,504 - $157,802) – 234 paid days
- For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
- For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
- Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):
- Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
- A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
- A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
- Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position
Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

- A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
- A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework*
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
