Haynes Charter for Enriched Studies is a public charter elementary school located in West Hills, serving approximately 375 students in grades TK through fifth.  The student population is diverse, comprising approximately 60% White, 17% Hispanic/Latino, 11% Asian, 2% African American, and 4% identifying as Two or More Races. The school serves a range of special populations, including approximately 5% English Language Learners, 48% socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and 17% students with disabilities supported through the Resource Specialist Program. Haynes Charter for Enriched Studies is a School for Advanced Studies, implemented in all classes. The school is located at 6624 Lockhurst Dr., West Hills, CA 91307.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will have a variety of elementary school leadership experiences including leading instructional initiatives and managing school operations.  They will have experience building trust and community with stakeholders, leading to the ability to engage in collaborative initiatives that result in improved student outcomes. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build consensus for instructional practices and district policies. They will demonstrate a student-focused philosophy, have an open door policy, and be a great listener. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the California State Standards, LAUSD Leadership Framework, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, Special Education, and District Instructional goals along with the ability to supervise and evaluate the instructional program and staff. They will have the ability to utilize school data to identify and develop strategies that address the school’s instructional needs. The ideal candidate must be highly organized and able to build on well-established systems and programs currently in place at the school. Experience supporting Gifted and Talented programs at the school level is preferred but not required.

SALARY:

SALARY: 40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days

 

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential                      • Multicultural coursework*
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university    • District Master Plan requirements*

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.

    • Experience analyzing school/student data to improve student outcomes through the implementation of instructional initiatives with specific actions and results

    • Experience collaborating with parent/community members/community groups to encourage engagement and foster school climate
