Located in Granada Hills, El Oro Way Charter for Enriched Studies is a public charter elementary school within the Los Angeles Unified School District, serving approximately 430 students in grades TK through fifth. The student population is diverse, comprising approximately 50% White, 25% Hispanic/Latino, 11% Asian, 2% African American, and 12% identifying as Two or More Races. The school serves a range of special populations, including approximately 13% English Language Learners, 51% socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and students with disabilities supported through the Resource Specialist Program (RSP). In addition, Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) services provide enrichment and advanced learning opportunities for students. As a newly designated Title I school, El Oro Way is poised to expand targeted programs and deepen support systems to ensure equitable access and outcomes for all students. The school is committed to delivering enriched, differentiated instruction that addresses the diverse academic and developmental needs of its learners. Through the integration of enrichment opportunities across all content areas and a sustained focus on academic excellence, El Oro Way consistently demonstrates strong student performance, with achievement levels in reading and mathematics exceeding state averages.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a student-focused philosophy and a commitment to working collaborative with parents and the staff.  The candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of LAUSD's initiatives, programs, the Strategic Plan, policies, procedures, and applicable state, federal, and charter regulations. The candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in the integration and implementation of instructional technology to support standards-based instruction, data analysis, and operational efficiency. The candidate will exhibit strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively engage and collaborate with a diverse and highly involved parent community. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and implement effective solutions to support student academic achievement and social-emotional learning is required.

In addition, the candidate will provide leadership in the development and expansion of innovative instructional programs, including the school’s Outdoor Habitat Classroom, to enhance student learning experiences. The candidate will also demonstrate the ability to lead and support a highly-functioning, collaborative team of certificated and classified staff, fostering a professional culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and student success. The ideal candidate will have experience with Affiliated Charters and Title 1 programs.

SALARY:

SALARY: 41G - E Basis ($126,504 - $157,802) – 234 paid days

 

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

 

Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
