ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is seeking an accomplished and visionary educational leader to oversee the district-wide instructional practices and operational support systems. This position will ensure Priority Schools serving designated historically underserved students receive targeted instructional programming and support needed to drive sustained, multi-year gains in student achievement.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Oversees the design, strategic management, and operational rollout of high level instructional programming, rigorous academic interventions, and equitable student support through the Black Student Achievement Program (BSAP) and Humanizing Education for Equitable Transformation (HEET)
- Oversees instructional program design and implementation, analyzes curriculum and performance data, and drives continuous improvement strategies in alignment the schools and regions teams
- Administers, implements, develops and evaluates equity-focused instructional programs and systems
- Oversees designated schools, regional offices, and community stakeholders to align high-level instructional programming with site-specific needs across designated Priority Schools
- Leads districtwide school transformation initiatives and professional learning
- Oversees program budgets and resources to provide support for Priority Schools and students from birth through adulthood
- Drives development of support systems that foster academic excellence, student well-being, and joy in learning
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP QUALITIES:
- Ability to provide administrative leadership at the executive level in decision-making, problem-solving, and delegation of authority
- Leadership experience directing large-scale projects and initiatives
- Expertise in high-level instructional design, standards-aligned curriculum, and pedagogical best practices tailored for historically underserved students
- Knowledge of current research, trends, measurement methodologies, and best evaluation strategies
- Knowledge of federal and state mandates, local legislation, and District Board Rules, strategic plan, goals and objectives, and collective bargaining agreements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Ten years of successful, full-time public school certificated experience
- Five years of successful, full-time public school experience as a principal
- Valid California Administrative Services Credential
- Earned master’s degree conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
- Multicultural Education coursework (Candidates have one year to complete this requirement.)
