Bertrand Ave ES Avenue Elementary is located in the San Fernando Valley and follows a traditional calendar. The school serves approximately 315 students in grades TK/CC through 5th grade. The school is designated as a school-wide Title I Community School, with 83% of students qualifying for Title I support. The student demographics are approximately 80% Hispanic, 8% White, 4% Asian, and 1% African American. English Learners comprise 30% of the student population. Bertrand ES also supports diverse learning needs through Special Day Classes (SDC), Pre-School PALS, and a Resource Specialist Program (RSP). The school implements i-Ready with high fidelity and integrates instructional technology and writing across content areas to support student achievement.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will be a strong, collaborative instructional leader with proven experience in driving student achievement through effective data analysis and implementation of standards-based instruction. They will possess excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage and support certificated and classified staff effectively and be well-versed in i-Ready assessment and instructional tools. Additionally, they will have strong systems for communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.

 

The candidate should demonstrate:

•Strong knowledge of the LAUSD Strategic Plan, the California Common Core State Standards, the LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, and the LAUSD School Leadership Framework.

•The ability to monitor instruction in the classroom, support differentiated instruction, and provide effective feedback to teachers.

•Experience in integrating instructional technology and writing across the curriculum.

•A deep understanding of school budgets and operational systems.

•The ability to build strong relationships with families and foster meaningful parent and community engagement.

•A commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of all students, including English Learners and students with disabilities.

SALARY:

Salary: 40G – E Basis ($123,618- $153,961) - 234 paid days

  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.  
  • For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (PUBLIC SCHOOL SETTING):

  • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program
  • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school
  • Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

 

Employees who have been issued a below-standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension, shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

  • A valid California teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program.  Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
